Fall of Varrock

Fallen Varrock — the loot hub

From the Fall of Varrock Wiki - Varrock fell. No guards, no townsfolk — the city crawls with monsters, rogues and PKers, and the loot flows to whoever walks out alive.

Varrock fell to the enemy long before you arrived. The guard was slaughtered, the townsfolk fled, and every cutthroat, grave-robber and renegade in Misthalin moved in. Today it's the realm's loot hub — the most dangerous and most rewarding city streets in the game.

What you'll find in the ruins

  • No civilians, no guards. The shops are abandoned and the old Varrock guard is gone. In their place, the streets crawl with muggers, thugs, highwaymen, rogues, zombies, skeletons, dark wizards, chaos druids, Black Knights and bandits — all attackable, all on the full real-OSRS drop tables.
  • The whole city is PvP. Varrock sits deep inside the wilderness zone (roughly levels 15–33 across the city — deeper toward the palace). Other players can attack you anywhere on its streets. Watch ::zone if you're unsure where you stand.
  • PKer bots stalk the streets. The rogues' favourite hunting ground — expect mithril-to-rune-tier PKers prowling the city on top of the usual wilderness wanderers. Kill one and its whole kit seals into a loot key.
  • Wilderness rules apply. Unprovoked attacks skull you, death drops your unprotected loot, and kills pay out through loot keys. Read death & item protection before you go.

The safe pockets

Two places inside the walls survived behind barricades and are safe zones:

  • Varrock west bank and Varrock east bank — bank under pressure, then dive back out.
  • The Grand Exchange, just north-west of the city, is also safe.

That's the whole gamble: the loot is in the streets, the bank is a sprint away, and everything between is fair game.

Why go

Every monster in the city rolls its real OSRS drop table, the density is city-block tight, and the banks are seconds away. It's the fastest risk-to-gp loop in the realm — if you live to bank it.

When the King finally marches on Varrock, the campaign is a purge of the occupiers — see The War explained.
