Moons of Peril

From the Fall of Varrock Wiki - Neypotzli beneath Cam Torum - subdue the Blood, Blue and Eclipse Moons and claim the Lunar Chest for the Moon armour sets and weapons.

Moons of Peril is the mid-level boss dungeon from Old School, kept to its original loop:

three imprisoned Moons, each fought alone in its own chamber, and a Lunar Chest whose

reward grows with how many Moons you've subdued this run.

Getting there

Open the teleport portal → Mini-Games → Moons of Peril (or ::moons). You arrive in the

antechamber. The Blood Moon's chamber is to the west, the Eclipse Moon's to the east, the

Blue Moon's to the north; the Lunar Chest waits in the Ancient Shrine to the east.

Camps in each cavern have a cooking stove (Make-cuppa restores your run energy) and

supply crates that hand out a bundle of cooked bream every few minutes.

Walk through a chamber's doorway to begin — you get your own copy of the chamber. Walk back

through the doorway to leave.

The fights

Every Moon has 500 hitpoints and the same bones: a three-strike melee combo every six ticks

(4, 8 and 20 — if a strike misses, the rest miss too) and Eyatlalli's glyph, a moonfire

marker that moves clockwise around the room every two attacks. Stand on or beside the glyph

during normal attacks or you take rapid damage. After six attacks the Moon uses one of its two

specials, alternating.

MoonSpecial 1Special 2
Blood Moon — every strike that lands heals it (the third for 30–50)Blood rain: it vanishes and pools of blood spatter the floor. Stay off them.Blood jaguar: a jaguar rises beside the glyph inside a square of pools. The Moon is immune until the jaguar dies; every pool you stand in heals it threefold.
Blue MoonWeapon freeze: your weapon is torn off and sealed in ice at the glyph. Stand there a few ticks to shatter it, then re-equip. Icy spikes fall meanwhile.Frost storm: both braziers at the chamber's ends go out. Feed them while two storms sweep the floor — each unlit brazier heals the Moon.
Eclipse MoonSearing rays: a moon shield appears and shoves you behind it, then circles the room. Stay in its shadow.Clones: you're bound at the centre while five waves of three clones strike. Attack a clone before it strikes to parry — the parry lands on the Moon.

Subduing a Moon carries you back out of its door. Re-entering a chamber you have already

subdued this run spawns the Enraged Moon: harder, and worth nothing extra at the chest.

The Lunar Chest

The chest unlocks once you have subdued all three Moons at least once. From then on, claim

it with any number subdued this run:

  • 1 / 3 / 6 common rolls for 1 / 2 / 3 Moons (atlatl darts, blessed bone shards, wyrmling and sun-kissed bones, swamp tar, water orbs, supercompost, soft clay, harralander, irit, maple and yew seeds).
  • For each Moon subdued, a 1 in 56 chance at one of that Moon's four pieces:
  • Blood Moon: helm, chestplate, tassets, Dual macuahuitl
  • Blue Moon: helm, chestplate, tassets, Blue moon spear
  • Eclipse Moon: helm, chestplate, tassets, Eclipse atlatl

Claiming re-locks the run. All twelve uniques are Collection Log entries; ::kc tracks each

Moon and your chest count.
