Fall of Varrock

Guardians of the Rift

From the Fall of Varrock Wiki - The Runecraft minigame - mine guardian remains, craft essence, imbue it at the altar portals, power the Great Guardian and hold the barrier line against the abyss.

Guardians of the Rift plays as it does in OSRS, sized for our population: a game starts a

minute after the first player waits in the lobby, and the Great Guardian's charge scales with

the number of players.

The round

  1. Lobby. Wait south of the barrier; it drops when the game starts. Bank chest and the Rewards Guardian are here.
  2. Two minutes to prepare. Mine guardian remains around the hall (any pickaxe; the large remains in the east need 56 Agility over the rubble, the huge remains in the west open through a portal every couple of minutes), craft the fragments into guardian essence at the workbench, grab uncharged cells (up to 10) and a weak cell.
  3. Portals. From 160 seconds, and every 140 seconds after, one elemental and one catalytic Guardian opens for 100 seconds. Enter one you have the Runecraft level for: every guardian essence becomes that rune and a guardian stone, one carried uncharged cell is charged to the altar's tier, and you get the altar's Runecraft XP per essence.
  4. Power the Great Guardian with your stones (Power-up). Each stone adds energy of its type to your score and raises the Guardian's power; the rift closes at 100%.
  5. Hold the line. Abyssal creatures pour from the rift after the two minutes. Use a charged cell on an inactive cell tile to raise a barrier (weak / medium / strong / overcharged); leeches slip through gaps and drain the Guardian, walkers batter barriers, guardians attack you. A broken tile costs 12 fragments to repair. At 60% power the temple rumbles, every barrier takes 50 damage and the mix turns nastier.

Dying inside is safe. Leaving through the barrier mid-game forfeits that game's energy.

Scoring

At the close you earn 1 elemental point per 100 elemental energy and **1 catalytic point

per 100 catalytic energy** (the remainder is a proportional chance of one more), and

Runecraft XP equal to your level × 45 if you reached 300 energy. Points persist. ::gotr

Rewards Guardian — one elemental plus one catalytic point per search (Big-search does

five; 25 abyssal pearls buy a search too): abyssal pearls, essence pouches you don't own yet,

catalytic talisman (1/200), the abyssal needle (1/300, once), the abyssal lantern (1/700), a
