Fall of Varrock

The Guns of Asgarnia

From the Fall of Varrock Wiki - Asgarnia campaign quest 3. Falador's dwarf multicannons are worn out and Keldagrim stopped shipping steel - secure the route, win a trial order, smelt it on the Blast Furnace and bring Nulodion the steel for the first new gun in years. Then hold his yard when the Kinshra come to test it.

Asgarnia has not forgotten how to build dwarf multicannons. Nulodion still knows exactly how. What twelve years of war took was the guns themselves - destroyed, worn out, stripped for parts - and the steel to replace them, because when the roads failed Keldagrim stopped promising metal to wars it could not control. The Guns of Asgarnia is about repairing a broken supply line, not finding a magic blueprint. It begins on its own once the Asgarnia campaign is open to you (after At the White Wall), and it does not need A Matter of Trolls first - do them in either order.

The quest

  1. Speak with Sir Amik Varze - top floor of the White Knights' Castle in Falador (the west tower's stairs). White Knights can take a wall; getting through one is another matter. Ask Nulodion.
  2. Ask Nulodion - his hut at the Dwarven Mine's Ice Mountain entrance, north of Falador. He can build you one cannon, perhaps two. Enough to matter in a war needs Keldagrim - and Keldagrim needs convincing.
  3. Travel to Keldagrim - the teleport portal's Mini-Games tab now lists the Blast Furnace. The Foreman there says no: it is not the steel or the money, it is the bit between Keldagrim and Falador.
  4. Clear the Kinshra raiding cell - camped in the trees just west of Nulodion's yard, where the surface route reaches the mine. Five raiders and a captain, aggressive only to you; a friend's or your companion's kills count too.
  5. Return to the Foreman - Keldagrim will resume limited military steel shipments while Falador keeps the route protected. One condition: you help make the first batch. He hands over 10 iron ore, 10 coal and a bucket of water.
  6. Produce 10 steel bars at the Blast Furnace - the normal furnace: ore on the conveyor belt, bars from the dispenser (the bucket, or ice gloves). Steel needs 30 Smithing. Keldagrim pays the coffer for this order.
  7. Take the steel to Nulodion - all ten bars, in your pack. "Good steel." / "It's a steel bar." / "And now you've insulted both Smithing and dwarves."
  8. Watch him work - he has the fittings; the steel finishes the pieces the old guns could no longer spare. Asgarnia's first new multicannon in years.
  9. Kinshra! - they followed the shipment. Nulodion presses thirty cannonballs into your hands: Fire the gun to load it, then hold the yard beside it. The cannon fires on its own at the saboteurs; you still have to fight. Driven off? Speak to Nulodion and they come again.
  10. Speak with Nulodion - one cannon today. Steel next week. More after that.
  11. Report to Sir Amik - one cannon doesn't break a front. But it means there can be a second. And a third.

Type ::guns for your objective, or open the Quest Journal with ::quests (the quest also shows in the stock quest tab).

What you restore

  • Artillery Production: RESTORED - Asgarnia can produce replacement multicannons again. Not a hundred guns overnight; the capability, which is what the campaign needed.
  • Keldagrim Military Steel: LIMITED TRADE RESTORED - while Falador keeps the route open.
  • The Blast Furnace itself, for everyone: Keldagrim's furnace room is on the portal, with the coffer, the coal bag, hot bars and OSRS Smithing XP.

The Kinshra front stays active and Sir Tiffy's intelligence question is still open, so BREACH is not yet solved - that is the Asgarnia finale's job.

Rewards

2 Quest Points · 50 War Effort · asgarnia.artillery_restored · Smithing XP for the ten bars · progression toward The White Wall.

What comes next

With A Matter of Trolls done as well, Sir Amik has his soldiers and his guns - "which usually means Tiffy is about to find a new problem." See A Kingdom Alone for the regional campaign phase and the gameplay roadmap for everything around it.
