Path to end game - where every rare comes from
Fall of Varrock is not a spawn server - every rare in the economy was earned by somebody. Gear enters the game three ways: boss drops, currency shops, and the Royal Smith's war-forge. On top of those sit two shortcuts - wilderness loot keys off elite PK bots, and plain gold: almost everything below is tradeable, so the market is always a valid route.
This page is the map. Find the item you want, and it tells you exactly where to go.
The currencies at a glance
| Currency | How you earn it | Where you spend it |
|---|---|---|
| Boss Tickets (tradeable item) | Every boss kill - e.g. Zulrah 40, GWD generals 35, Fight Cave clear 150, Inferno clear 150 | Warlord's Armoury, Valaine's boss shelf |
| Blood Money (tradeable item) | Killing real players: 25 + 3 per combat level (bots pay nothing) | Emblem Trader (PK Rewards) |
| Commendations (untradeable) | Won marches, campaigns and conquests, scaled by contribution | The Royal Smith's war-forge |
| Warden's embers (tradeable) | The Grand March's prize | War-forge helm recipes |
| Coins | Everything | Barrows wing, forge fees, the market |

The gear ladder
- Early: rank armour from the Apprentice's Armoury as your title climbs, weapons to adamant off the shelf, rune from smithing and drops.
- Mid: dragon via the Forge, then Barrows - run the minigame, or pay the Quartermaster's coin prices (12m a piece, 20m a weapon).
- High: farm bosses for Boss Tickets and unique drops; PK for Blood Money; buy your GWD bases.
- End game: hand Bandos, Armadyl and Ahrim's pieces to the Royal Smith with Commendations from the war - Torva, Masori, Ancestral. Save tickets for a megarare. Summon the Corporeal Beast for a sigil.
Torva, Masori & Ancestral
The three war-forged sets are the best armour in the game, and the Royal Smith by the castle wall is the only maker. Bodies and legs cost 25 Commendations + 20 runite bars + 250,000 gp on top of the base item; helms take a Warden's ember instead of the heavier bill.
| Piece | Base item | Base comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Torva platebody / platelegs | Bandos chestplate / tassets | General Graardor (1/384) or Armoury 600/800 tickets |
| Torva full helm | Neitiznot faceguard | Boss drops & the market |
| Masori body / chaps / mask | Armadyl chestplate / chainskirt / helmet | Kree'arra (1/384) or Armoury 600/800 tickets |
| Ancestral top / bottom / hat | Ahrim's robetop / robeskirt / hood | Barrows chest, or 12m gp each at the Armoury |
Torva has a second source: Nex drops each finished piece directly at 1/450. Nex also drops her own mage line - Virtus mask, robe top and robe bottom, 1/450 each - which no shop sells. Finished war-forged pieces are fully tradeable - a fat purse skips the march.
Godswords
The four God Wars generals each drop their own hilt at 1/508 (Graardor → Bandos, K'ril → Zamorak, Kree'arra → Armadyl, Zilyana → Saradomin), and all four drop godsword shards 1, 2 and 3 at 1/90 each - assemble hilt + three shards. Zilyana also drops the Saradomin sword (1/254) and Armadyl crossbow (1/508).
The Armadyl godsword has faster routes: 15,000 Blood Money at the Emblem Trader, and elite PK bots carry one - it can land in a loot key. The Ancient godsword is 20,000 BM, or forge it from Nex's ancient hilt.
Dragon claws
Pick your grind - the captain hunt is the designed route, the shop is bad-luck protection priced above it:
| Source | Rate / price |
|---|---|
| Karn the Red, the named captain in occupied Varrock's war campaign | 1/15 per kill (hourly respawn), broadcast realm-wide |
| Emblem Trader | 12,000 BM (ornament 16,000; burning claws 14,000) |
| Elite PK bot loot keys | bots carry them |
Chests in Last Man Standing also roll claws - but LMS gear only exists inside the match: you keep nothing and lose nothing there.
The megarares
Raids aren't in the realm yet, so the raid weapons are sold at career prices in the Warlord's Armoury - think hundreds of boss kills' worth of tickets, not an afternoon:
| Item | Boss Tickets |
|---|---|
| Twisted bow / Scythe of vitur / Tumeken's shadow | 12,000 each |
| Soulreaper axe | 8,000 |
| Sanguinesti staff | 6,000 |
| Ghrazi rapier | 4,000 |
Two of the Armoury's weapons also have drop paths: the zaryte crossbow builds from Nex's nihil horn (1/450), and the venator bow from the Phantom Muspah's venator shard (1/200).
Spirit shields & sigils
The realm's rarest flex, and no shop sells them. The Corporeal Beast is a summonable world boss (3,000,000 gp to call, north-east of Lumbridge) - and every contributor to the kill gets an independent roll: arcane, spectral and elysian sigils at 1/150 each, the blessed spirit shield at 1/120, draconic visage at 1/200. Sigil + blessed spirit shield + 90 Prayer makes the shield.
Special-attack weapons
- Dragon warhammer - the named captain Grimjaw drops it 1/15, or 10,000 BM at the Emblem Trader.
- Voidwaker - 30,000 BM whole, or hunt the pieces from the wilderness bosses at 1/1500 each: hilt (Callisto), blade (Vet'ion), gem (Venenatis).
- Abyssal whip - Abyssal Sire (with the abyssal dagger and bludgeon), or 3,000 BM.
Boots, jewellery & the rest
- Primordial / pegasian / eternal boots - Cerberus drops the three crystals at 1/512, or 900 Boss Tickets each finished.
- Occult necklace - Thermonuclear smoke devil 1/350, or 800 tickets.
- Torture, anguish, tormented bracelet, blood fury, the DT2 rings, ferocious gloves, lightbearer - Armoury tickets (see the shops directory).
- Dragonfire shield - 500 tickets, or craft it from a draconic visage: KBD 1/250, Corporeal Beast 1/200, Vorkath 1/2000.
- Dragon hunter lance - 3,500 tickets, or the Alchemical Hydra's claw at 1/700.
The capes
The fire cape is earned in the Fight Cave - every Jad kill awards one, and it's tradeable for a reason: the Inferno charges one fire cape as its entry sacrifice. Beat TzKal-Zuk and the infernal cape is yours - untradeable, every clear. Neither cape is sold anywhere, ever.
Relics - 3rd age & gilded
The antique prestige line, and the war is how you earn it. During a live campaign or conquest on Varrock, every enemy you cut down on the battlefield has a small chance (~1/5,000) to drop a random 3rd age piece straight to you - so a piece you're wearing says you fought the war for it. On top of that, the Minister or King who wins a war has a 1/1,000 chance to earn a piece as a leadership reward, collected from their ::claim war-spoils box. Both are announced realm-wide when they land.
The Quartermaster's Relics tab still sells 3rd age for Boss Tickets, but only as a slow pity-path, now priced at 3× the old rates - melee, range and mage pieces run 12,000-24,000 tickets, the longsword, bow and wand are 30,000, and the druidic robes are the apex at 36,000 each. Buying a set is the single most conspicuous flex on the realm; the drop is how you're meant to get it. Lords and above can also sell pieces back to the Quartermaster at a third of shelf value - deliberately below what a duplicate fetches in player trade, so trading is always the better cash-out. Wearing 3rd age is Lord-tier on the rank ladder, same as the other end-game sets.
Gilded armour is the voter's flex: Valaine's Vote rewards shelf sells the gilded full helm, platebody, platelegs, kiteshield, scimitar and boots for 25-60 Vote Tickets a piece. Tickets are tradeable, so non-voters buy them off voters - but a full set represents months of daily votes either way.
The wilderness shortcut
Elite PK bots roam the deep wilderness wearing and carrying real gear - Bandos, Ancestral pieces, fortified Masori, godswords, claws, BIS boots and jewellery. Kill one and its gear drops as a loot key you cash at the Lumbridge Loot Chest. It's the highest-risk, zero-cost route to end-game gear - and other players can kill you for your keys.
One caveat: LMS loot
Everything on this page has a real, current source - but one thing looks like a source and isn't: gear you loot from Last Man Standing chests only exists inside the match. You keep nothing and lose nothing there, so it's never a way to own an item. When new rares open up, this page will say so.
